Riverfolk is a local 5013(c) non-profit that exists to help the homeless with essential needs, such as food and clothing. Additionally, they assist people to obtain birth certificates and valid IDs so they can obtain work, housing, and other services that they would otherwise be ineligible for.

Every Sunday, at the Astoria Armory, Riverfolk hosts a weekly breakfast that feeds a hot, nutritious free meal to the houseless community. We involve many community members to assist feeding anywhere from a dozen to 40 people+ every week.

    Recreational Classes

IGA’s school age program is designed to provide a positive, encouraging gymnastics education that allows each child to continually progress within the sport. Our structured lesson plans offer progressive, skill-based gymnastics. Skill breakdown and hands-on coaching allows for children to feel successful and accomplished at any level, and leads to higher self-esteem and a passion for the sport. Additionally, gymnasts will acquire skills transferable to school and playground atmospheres, including improved balance and coordination, confidence, and knowledge of how to fall safely. Our school age program is for children ages 3-17, and class movement is based on each individual student’s rate of progression. Gymnasts enrolled in our recreational classes will train on the following apparatuses:

    • Vault
    • Bars
    • Balance Beam
    • Floor Exercise

We offer four different levels for recreational athletes to progress through, where they will learn skills from forward rolls and casts to handsprings and kips. Our school age recreational gymnastics classes are designed to offer continual skill progression which allows them to be successful and grow in the sport.

    All Star Program-Special Needs

IGA’s All Star Program was created with the belief that all students deserve the opportunity to have a positive gymnastics experience. Our All Star coaches work to accommodate all needs with patience and care, while promoting confidence and independence in each student. Classes are designed on an individual basis to help students learn and achieve goals while having fun in a social setting. Our unique equipment aids in facilitating the development of motor skills, including jumping, coordination, balance, and body awareness. Additionally, our students increase their self-esteem and confidence as they reach goals, achieve challenges, and discover strengths not addressed in the traditional classroom setting. Finally, the motivation and decision making inherent in gymnastics can be transferred to countless other settings. Our All Star Program provides several lesson options, and lessons are custom-designed based on the needs and goals of each family.
